Hi! Although Office 2007 (with its new file formats) has been around awhile, many of us still have Office 2003. So when we get an email with a .docx file attached, for example, we can’t open it.
No need to panic!
Microsoft has a free Compatibility Pack for Office 2003 that allows you to open, edit, and save documents, workbooks, and presentations in the file formats new to Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007. You can grab the Pack from the Microsoft website by clicking here. The instructions are straight-forward and easy to follow.
Once you’ve installed the Compatibility Pack, Office 2007 files will be automatically converted to open in your pre-2007 software. I’ve been using this stuff for a couple of years and it works great.
Pretty cool, eh?
